Remembering Three Giants

We have recently lost three people who have been committed to DK and the arts in Indianapolis. Each had unique gifts they shared freely, and were true friends and cheer leaders. We will miss each of them dearly.

Christel DeHaan

We mourn the June 6, 2020 passing of our dear friend, patron and advisor Christel DeHaan. An extraordinary philanthropist and lover of the arts, Christel's sustained and generous support of Dance Kaleidoscope has been transformative, and helped the organization grow into one of Indianapolis' leading performing arts organizations.

Our deep condolences and sympathy go out to the members of her family and her many friends who cherished her indomitable spirit and unending generosity. She truly showed us by example what it means to be a great human being, and inspired us all to be better people.

Gerda Fogle

Our friend Gerda Fogle passed away suddenly on June 12, 2020. Gerda truly was part of the DK family for several generations—from serving on the Board, to being a member of the Advisory Council, to being a member of the Marketing Committee, to being a devoted patron and advocate for DK, to taking Jillian Godwin's adult dance classes, to caring deeply about every dancer, staff member and the health of DK.

While she certainly had a serious, pragmatic sense and skill set she shared with the company while planning and executing so many projects, she also had a wonderfully silly sense of humor and play. We will deeply miss Gerda and we send our condolences to her family and friends.

Michael O'Brien

Our hearts are heavy with the news that Michael O'Brien has passed away on June 12, 2020. Not only was he a significant supporter of the Central Indiana arts community, but he was also a personal friend. Michael was a loyal, devoted patron of DK's, and he had an infectious joy at connecting with people and for brainstorming solutions. Through his and his brother Joel's leadership, Printing Partners has generously helped numerous arts organizations for many years, including DK.

We send heart-felt condolences to his wife Jackie Nytes, son Patrick, brother Joel, and all Michael's family and friends.
