DK Dances to the Powerful Voices of
Ella Fitzgerald, Janis Joplin & Aretha Franklin
Saturday, August 4 at 8pm • Sunday, August 5 at 2:30pm
1 Center Green, Carmel
Celebrate the voices of these amazing women artists this August. Our athletic dance performances will match the emotional intimacy and raw energy of songs recorded by Ella, Janis & Aretha.
• The music included from Ella Fitzgerald features many of her most famous songs from the 1940s and 1950s. The velvety elegance of her voice is matched well by David's Hochoy's witty choreography and Guy Clark's costumes. Songs include "Night and Day," "Too Darn Hot" and "Lady Be Good."
• Janis Joplin's music is high-voltage power with a raw edge. Choreographer David Hochoy has created dance that adds layers of athleticism energy, with costumes from Guy Clark that match the intensity in the music. Songs include "Me and Bobby McGee," "Cry Baby" and "Try (Just a Little Bit Harder)"
• The music used in this show by Aretha Franklin by choreographer Nicholas A. Owens ranges from tender to pure joy. Songs include "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," "You're All I Need to Get By" and "Respect."
We all require and want respect, man or woman, black or white. It's our basic human right.
Tickets will go on sale soon.
